 ENGINEERING INTERN PROGRAM

The Orlando Innovation Center is looking for self-motivated mechanical engineering interns who would be excited to work at our facility for a 12-week long internship program beginning in January or May of 2024. Our facility focuses on solving problems through fast-paced concept-through-completion prototyping. You will be doing hands-on work to build and test a sustainability-based project that comes from our Siemens Energy customer.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for the successful deployment of solutions developed by engineering or manufacturing teams.
     

  • Support engineering by performing iterative testing and implementing changes along the way.
     

  • Support engineering with fabrication, assembly, and build out of prototypes or models based on specifications
     

  • Utilize AutoCAD or other CAD software to create and modify technical drawings
     

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies using multi-body CAD software (Siemens NX).
     

  • Ability to read electrical drawings and wire to print
     

  • Perform data collection and analysis for engineering projects

  • Interpret and follow schematics and technical documentation
     

  • Shadow engineers and become familiar with the product or solutions being implemented.
     

  • Responsible for documenting and communicating issues back to engineering.
     

  • Provide support with in-house manufacturing. This includes machine support, inspection, and material procurement.
     

  • Complete all work in a safe manner: adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Who You are

  • US Citizen or Approved to work in the U.S.
     

  • High school diploma or GED.
     

  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience required, with a technical background.
     

  • Prior exposure to a variety of technologies, and the ability to learn new technologies on the fly.
     

  • Experience working in startups is preferred.

Additional Physical Requirements:

  • Able to move about the Center to work with team members.
     

  • Able to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
     

  • The vision requirements include; close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
